Project Description
The primary aim of the proposal is to re-organise the current convoluted ground floor layout of this property in order to achieve an open plan space more suited to a young family of three. The intention is to reverse the floor plan by moving the kitchen to the front of the house and establish a new visual connection through the dining room to the new living room and into the garden. The rear of the building is extended in a way that is trying to avoid the standard box fill extension types and is done in a more playful manner creating what almost feels like a composition of museum display glass cases. The irregular shape creates pockets of space internally that are ideal for a more considerate furniture layoutIn order to maximise the use of the property, the design added a dormer window on the top floor, matching the one in the property adjacent and which is also a common feature in several properties in the surrounding properties. This will allow one more room in the house to cater for when the family will grow.
